Q. Can I come to Ballyhass during COVID 19 lockdowns?

We have always had an open-door policy at Ballyhass for people to come and enjoy the outdoors. The main office and Café are operationally closed for the remainder of the lockdown. We have put one-way system in place for people who live within the 2km of the site and want to avail of the walkways.

Q. Are there staff members available to take inquiries?

Our bookings team are working remotely but are still available to assist all customers with any queries. Please don’t hesitate to call or email if you wish to make a future booking or you wish to amend a current booking.

Q. I have been told to self-isolate, can I reschedule?

We want all our fantastic customers to know that we are confident that we can deliver the same high-quality experience at another time in the future when your Covid-19 isolation has ended. If your booking is affected we will work with you to find a suitable solution.

  • We are happy to defer any bookings to a future date of your choosing. Any deposit paid will be transferred to the new date.

  • If a deferred date is not possible, we will provide everyone with a credit note that they can use towards any future booking.

Q. How can I find out what activities are open and when?

A roadmap to opening is dictated by the government guidelines. Wakeboarding and Open water swimming will be the first activities to open. Additional activities and full adventure family programs will come online over the coming months. Why not sign up to our weekly newsletter here to stay up to date.

Q. Can I defer an existing booking I made earlier in the year?

Yes. Our team will be in contact, if they have not been already, with all affected bookings over the course of these few weeks to ensure that everyone is looked after at this time.

Q. How do I know it is safe to come to Ballyhass Mallow or Coachford Centre?

The known ways in which the virus can be spread is through sneeze and cough droplets/secretions. With a smaller risk of surface spread. Being in close proximity in a poorly ventilated area leads to a higher risk of contracting the virus. With this knowledge in hand, we have looked at all aspects of the business in our efforts to combat the virus.

  • Firstly our activities take place outside, where there is plenty of room to enjoy activities in a social distant manner
  • Furthermore, we have removed all unnecessary physical interactions on booking and check-in
  • We have upgraded both sites in terms of sanitization facilities that are available to all

Q. Are the lakes safe for the transmission of the virus?

Yes. The virus is spread mainly via respiratory secretions, primarily droplets. There is also a smaller risk of surface spread. However, Covid 19 is not believed to be contracted through lakewater or swimming pool water.

Q. What is a Covid-19 Designed Product?

A COVID 19 designed product is one in which all aspects of the product from facilities, equipment, staffing levels, training, customer briefing and safety are all taken into consideration through the lens of COVID 19 containment measures and risk mitigation. This mark shows that all levels of Ballyhass staff and management have put full resources into planning and delivering our great outdoor experiences in as safe a manner as possible and in line with the most up to date guidelines.

Q. What operational Changes have you made because of the impacts of Covid-19?

We have made changes across all aspects of the business, moving as much of our interaction, bookings, payment and waivers online pre-arrival. Our indoor buildings and facilities have upgraded sanitization facilities as well as social distancing measures. On activities, we have change ratios and standard operating procedures in liaison with other international outdoor providers. And also to best match health guidelines in conjunction with HSE. You can see an overview of initial operational changes here.

Q. At what stage will the Aquapark be open?

The Aquapark will be open during the summer although with new capacity and operational changes. Depending on how smooth the government roadmap rollout goes we will look to open for June 29th.

  • Expansion of changing facilities to accommodate families and household units
  • A new schedule of available timeslots across the day to give a wider variety of times you can come and also keep numbers at a safe socially distant level.
  • The Aquapark will operate as multiple "islands" to control capacity and flow within the overall Aquapark.

Q. Can I come and do activities with my family?

Yes. We are adding family/household-specific products that will allow you to come in smaller groups throughout the Summer and take on our family kayaking expeditions or Our adventure pick and mix taster sessions. See the Summer Program Calendar here

Q. Have you showers at Ballyhass

We do have shower facilities at our Mallow site, however, we will initially keep this facility closed to the general public for hygiene reasons.
