Build your own axe Target?
Why would you want to do it?
So you might have seen that we opened our axe range around this time last year. We have had over three successfully seasons participating in the world axe throwing league. This is a chance to compete against some of the best axe throwers in the world all from the comfort of your local axe range here in Mallow. A league takes 8 weeks. 7 weeks of qualifying rounds where you will play 4 matches against your opponents in your local axe range. These scores are uploaded onto the WATL site and you can see how you fare against the best. You are able to compare each throwers personal profile so you can really geek out on the stats, how many bullseyes you had, or painfully how many dropouts you had!! The final week is a knock out round where you go from trying to get a combined high score to beat the opponent/friend beside you.
So, unfortunately, this current spring league has been cancelled, but the awesome community of axe throwers around the world banded together to create a quarantine league. One where matches are created with anyone who signed up across the globe. The matches are played over video chat where you film your throws to compare against your opponent playing at the same time. A pretty ingenious use of existing technology to keep the same format going. Also, you get to meet and have a chat with people from all over the world. Check out our axe throwing Instagram where Elaine and I were throwing against people in Pennsylvania and Ohio last night.
The beauty of this anyone can do it from their back yard while protecting yourself and keeping social distancing.

Print those out and check out the below videos of how to put together and then how to mark the boards to the correct specs. Maybe a place at the next world axe throwing league is in your future? Is that what they meant about using the lockdown to learn new skills??
Send us in your home targets and we will share them with everyone. Happy building and hopefully see you for the official summer league in Ballyhass.
