Sustainability - Biodiversity
Ballyhass Sustainability Goals 2023 - 2030

Biodiversity

At Ballyhass, we are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the biodiversity of our two lakeside locations. Through a variety of initiatives and programs, we aim to create pockets of diversity and support the conservation of local ecosystems.

One way we plan to do this is by implementing Site Pollinator Plans that promote the growth and health of pollinators, such as bees, butterflies etc. These plans involve creating habitat for pollinators, including flowering plants and nesting sites, as well as reducing the use of pesticides and other chemicals that can harm these important species.

We have also established Pesticide Free Zones at our lakeside locations, in which we minimize the use of chemicals and instead rely on natural pest control methods. This helps to protect the health of local ecosystems and the species that depend on them.

In addition, we will be implementing a number of programs to create wild areas and enhance habitat for a variety of species. This includes planned wild areas that allow native plants and animals to thrive, as well as native tree and hedgerow planting programs to support the growth of local ecosystems. We are also working to create biodiversity corridors, which are areas of land that connect different habitats and allow species to move freely between them.

Finally, we are committed to enhancing the water habitats at our lakeside locations by reducing pollution and promoting the health of aquatic species. This includes monitoring water quality, implementing best practices for waste management, and working with local organizations to support conservation efforts.

Overall, our goal is to create a thriving, diverse ecosystem at our lakeside locations, and to inspire our customers to become advocates for biodiversity.
