Throughout this 16-week daily course you will gain over 7 different qualifications / awards in outdoor activities all while learning the day-to-day runnings of an outdoor activity centre. We at Ballyhass have over 20 years of experience working in the outdoor industry from our centres where you will be based in Mallow, with trips to Coachford, the beautiful mountains of Ballyhoura and the nature filled Lee Valley. Here we can provide you with the abilities, knowledge, skills, training and credentials to work in adventure centres world wide.

You are invited to stay in our houses in Mallow for the duration of the course at a subsidised rate and will switch between our Mallow  and Coachford  Lee Valley sites depending on what you are learning. This course is a mixture between hands-on learning, classroom learning, work placement and assessments which will be a mix of practical and theory exams. If you are interested in sports, outdoor learning and the outdoor adventure industry this course will give you the skills and qualifications to grow your career in the outdoors.

  • Sit on Top Adventure Guide, Stand Up Paddle Boarding Safety & Rescue, Stand Up Paddle Boarding Instructor, Sit on Top Kayak Skills  - Water Skills Academy (WSA)

  • Swimming Competency, Open Water Lifeguarding and - Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS)

  • Traditional High Ropes Course Instructor - European Ropes Course Association (ERCA)

Ballyhass Adventure Group has been working in the outdoor adventure industry since 1999, we have learned a great deal over the years and even train our own staff in-house. We have been running lifeguarding, first aid and other courses for a significant number of years and are ready to bring this all together in our Adventure Centre Instructor Training Course. We have two sites, one based on a lake and another on the River Lee giving you the benefit of working on different types of water and on our over 20 different activities. Both sites are based in county Cork and under an hour drive away from the city centre.

Must be over 18 years to Apply for this full course and be fully available for all learning and contact hours, assessments and courses which require a specific amount of hours.

Garda Vetting is required - we will carry out this process before you start the course.

This course is 16 to 18 weeks.
