Growing a Greener Future: How Ballyhass is on a Mission to Leading Sustainability in Outdoor Adventure
At Ballyhass, we believe adventure, community, and sustainability go hand in hand—and we’re proving it.
Last month, we teamed up with the next generation of environmental stewards—the incredible students of Ballyhass National School—to bring our latest biodiversity project to life. Together, we planted 2,640 native trees and hedgerows, creating a vital biodiversity corridor at our Mallow site.
But this is more than just a tree-planting initiative. It’s part of a much bigger mission—one that reflects our B-Corp values and our belief that businesses should be a force for positive change.
Why This Matters: Regeneration Over Sustainability
Being one of the first 100 B-Corps in Ireland isn’t just a badge of honor. It’s a commitment to action. We don’t want to simply sustain what we have—we want to regenerate it.
This Gate to Gate Nature Corridor is designed to:
- Rewild our spaces – Creating safe, natural habitats for wildlife.
- Regenerate, not just sustain – Strengthening biodiversity and climate resilience.
- Grow a movement – Inspiring young minds to take action for the planet.
The corridor will serve as a crucial link for pollinators, birds, and small mammals, offering food, shelter, and safe passage through our site. By planting native species sourced from Irish provenance, we’re ensuring that this ecosystem can thrive for generations to come.
The Power of Community Collaboration
One of the things that makes this project truly special is the hands-on involvement of our local community.
The fifth and sixth-class students of Ballyhass National School didn’t just plant trees—they became active participants in a movement for a greener future. Through this experience, they learned about biodiversity, conservation, and the direct impact they can have on their local environment.
As a company, we’ve always believed that education and outdoor adventure go beyond fun and fitness—they’re about connection. Connection to each other, to nature, and to the bigger picture of what it means to protect the places we love.
B-Corp in Action: Business as a Force for Good
B-Corp Month may be ending, but our commitment is just getting stronger.
This project embodies what it means to be a B-Corp:
- People – Educating and empowering the next generation of environmental stewards.
- Planet – Taking measurable action to restore biodiversity.
- Purpose – Using our platform to create lasting change.
We want to lead by example—not just in outdoor adventure, but in rethinking what a business can be. Ballyhass isn’t just an adventure center; we’re a movement. A company that prioritises sustainability, pushes boundaries, and proves that outdoor experiences can coexist with environmental stewardship.
