Ultimate Outdoor School Tour Experiences in Cork

The Best Outdoor School Tour Experiences in Cork

It’s no easy feat to create something memorable and engaging for students when planning a school tour or outing, but if you’re in Cork, you just might be in luck!

Famous for its natural beauty and fun-loving spirit, Cork has a massive range of exciting educational and outdoor experiences to keep school students occupied. Below, we’ll look at some of the best outdoor school tour experiences that Cork has to offer.

Why Choose an Outdoor Experience for a School Tour?

As well as offering fun and exciting experiences, outdoor school tours can help teach kids valuable life skills and provide benefits beyond the classroom.

Hands-On Learning:
Most outdoor activities require you to get stuck in and take part. This kind of hands-on approach helps kids to learn through practice and, while different, can complement what they’re learning in the classroom.

Health & Wellness:
An outdoor activity encourages students to do exactly that: get outside and get active. Whether it’s archery, paddle boarding or just a walk in the woods, choosing an outdoor school tour not only promotes health and wellness, it gives kids (and adults!) a chance to step outside their comfort zone and take on new challenges.

Personal & Social Development:
Outdoor activities give kids and students a lot more opportunities to practise teamwork, communication, and collaboration. A lot of outdoor activities focus on group or team challenges where members need to work together and communicate with one another to succeed. This can also help to bring out confidence, and leadership traits and give students greater independence to hidden talents.

Appreciation for Nature:
Taking your class or students into the great outdoors can help them to develop a respect and appreciation for nature. Being in nature can also help students to realise the importance of being environmentally responsible and encourage sustainable actions.

Tips For Planning Your School Tour

Safety First
When planning an outdoor school tour, safety should be at the very top of your priority list. Look for activity centres with qualified instructors who have experience leading groups and working with children. On the day, make sure that all necessary safety equipment has been provided and looks to be well maintained and in good condition.

Come Prepared
To guarantee an easy and stress free experience, make sure that students come prepared. This could mean comfortable activewear like tracksuits or leggings, swimming gear, waterproof clothing, sturdy shoes or boots, and so on.

During a full day of activity, you’re going to get hungry. While many places provide cafes or shops on-site, it’s not always a guarantee so bringing a packed lunch and some snacks to keep up energy levels is never a bad idea. This is also true for staying hydrated, so bring a refillable water bottle that you can use throughout the day.

Ballyhass provides a list of items and clothing that we recommend you bring. Most places will have something similar so do your homework before you get there to avoid being caught short.

Book Early
A lot of popular activity centres can book up fast, especially during peak school tour seasons. So make sure you book early and lock in the activities and dates you want in advance to avoid disappointment. After it’s booked, confirm your booking details with the activity centre and let students and parents know the necessary information ahead of time.
