Why this camp exists

This is not just a watersports camp. It is a wakeboarding week.

Cutting Edge is for teenagers who want more than a one-off spin on the water. It gives them time, coaching, repetition and a group of riders their own age so they can actually progress.

Some campers will be standing for the first time. Others will already ride and want to clean up their starts, turns, obstacles, cable confidence or general style. The point is the same: get more water time, build skills, and leave wanting to ride again.

01

More repetition

Wakeboarding clicks through practice. Five mornings gives riders a much better chance to build real confidence.

02

Expert coaching

Coaches help riders understand starts, body position, edging, corners and the next realistic step for their level.

03

Same-age crew

This is a teenage camp, so the pace, independence and atmosphere feels right for older kids.

04

Wakepark pathway

It is a natural gateway into Wakepark East as a sport, a hobby and a summer scene.

Who it is for

Beginners can start. Riders can progress.

This camp is designed for 13 to 17 year olds who want to spend proper time on wakeboarding. They do not need to arrive as experienced riders, but they should be interested in learning, happy in a lifejacket, and ready for a physical water-based challenge.

Anyone curious about joining the Wakepark East scene

What they will work on

From first starts to cleaner riding.

Every rider will be coached at their own level. The aim is not to make everyone do the same thing. The aim is to give each teenager clear feedback, repeat water time and a realistic next step each day.

1

Set up and safety

Understanding the cable, helmet, buoyancy aid, board position, water confidence and how sessions work.

2

Starts and stance

Getting up, staying balanced, holding body shape and building the foundation for longer rides.

3

Turns and control

Learning how to manage speed, edging, corner confidence and smoother movement on the cable.

4

Next-level progression

For riders who are ready, coaches can start building toward features, style, consistency and bigger goals.

Choosing the right camp

Cutting Edge, Teenage Watersports or Troopers?

Cutting Edge has a very specific role. It is the wakeboarding camp. If they want a broader activity mix, another camp may fit better.

Water mix

Teenage Watersports

Best for teenagers who want a dedicated older camp, but with a broader mix of water-based Ballyhass activities.

What to bring

Pack for water, weather and refuelling.

Wetsuits and safety equipment are provided. Campers should bring swimwear, dry layers and enough food for an active morning outside. Wakeboarding takes energy, especially when they are doing it every day.

Swimwear and towel Swimwear should be worn under the wetsuit. Bring a towel for changing afterwards.
Wet shoes or old runners Useful for moving around the water areas and keeping feet protected on site.
Warm outdoor layers Bring a hoodie, fleece or spare layers. Ballyhass keeps going in normal Irish weather.
Rainproof outer layer A light waterproof jacket or poncho makes wet weather much easier to manage.
Dry bag or plastic bag Handy for wet gear at collection time.
Food and water Bring a packed snack or lunch and a refillable water bottle. Wakeboarding is hungry work.
Sunblock Use waterproof sunblock even on cloudy days. Wind and water still catch skin.
Ready-to-try attitude No one has to be fearless. They just need to be up for learning and getting back on the board.
