Troopers is a full Ballyhass camp week with water every day, a broad mix of outdoor adventure, and shared camp moments that help kids settle in, make friends and build confidence from Monday to Friday.
Troopers campers work through a wide outdoor mix across the week. Depending on the schedule, activities can include water, height, skill and team-based sessions across the Ballyhass site.
Water is a core part of the Troopers experience, bringing fun, movement and confidence into every day of the week.
Big adventure moments that help campers push themselves in a supported setting and grow in confidence through the week.
A different kind of challenge through skill, focus, tactical play and active problem-solving across the site.
Troopers is more than a list of activities, with opening and closing ceremonies, flag prep, war banner prep and Camp Olympics built in.
The exact timetable can change depending on the group, weather and operations, but this gives parents a clearer picture of how the week is structured.
Troopers is built for families looking for a full Ballyhass camp week, not just a single day out. It suits kids who want variety, action, team energy and the chance to grow in confidence across five full days.
This is the decision-support layer: who the camp suits best, what kind of child tends to enjoy it most, and why the full-week format gives families more than a shorter camp option.
Troopers works well for first-time campers because the same group and leaders stay together through the week, helping kids settle in, find their feet and build confidence day by day.
Not every child arrives with the same confidence level. Troopers is designed so campers can stretch themselves, try new things and enjoy the week without feeling forced into every challenge at the same pace.
For many kids, the water side is a huge part of what makes Ballyhass special. Troopers keeps that energy in the week, while still mixing in height, land and team-based sessions across the programme.
A full week creates more space for group identity, team moments, camp games and shared memories. That makes Troopers feel more like a proper camp experience rather than five disconnected days.
Troopers is especially good for kids who do not want the same session repeated all week. The broad outdoor mix keeps the days moving and gives campers lots of chances to discover what they enjoy most.
Families often ask this early. Kids do not need to arrive as strong swimmers to enjoy the week. The focus is safe participation, progression, support and having a brilliant Ballyhass camp experience.
is excited by a full adventure week, likes the idea of water every day, enjoys being part of a group, and would benefit from a camp with more variety, momentum and social energy than a one-day format.
Families deciding between formats can use the wider Camps journey to compare options before booking.
Troopers is a full outdoor week, so arriving prepared makes a big difference. Campers will be active across land, water and height sessions, and water is part of every day. We provide wetsuits and core safety equipment, but there are a few essentials every camper should bring.
A simple daily setup works best: swimwear underneath, spare clothes for after water sessions, and layers that can handle Irish weather.
The essentials that make camp days smoother, drier and more comfortable.
Swimwear should be worn underneath the wetsuit. A towel is needed every day because water sessions are built into the week.
Campers need footwear they can wear around water activities and while moving between sessions in wetsuits. Old runners, wet shoes or similar are ideal.
Camps still run in the rain, so suitable outdoor clothing matters. Please send campers with layers and a full spare change of clothes.
Probably the single most useful item to bring. A simple waterproof jacket or poncho can make a huge difference if the weather turns.
Campers are outside for over 6.5 hours and take part in several active sessions, so they will need plenty of food to keep energy up through the day.
We have a water fountain on site where campers can refill between sessions, so a refillable bottle is strongly recommended.
Not essential for every camper, but often helpful across a full week.
Very useful for packing away wet clothes at the end of the day.
Important even on cloudy days and useful all season long.
A practical backup for campers doing multiple active sessions in changeable weather.
The Let’s Eat Takeaway Café is open daily if campers want a snack, treat or the famous hot chocolate.
Families do not need to source specialist activity kit for Troopers.
A few of the questions parents ask most often before the week starts, during camp, or when deciding if Troopers is the right fit.
The page above covers the week format, activity mix and what to bring. These FAQs focus on the practical questions that still tend to come up before booking or before day one.
Comfortable outdoor clothing, swimwear underneath, suitable footwear for active sessions, a towel, wet shoes or old runners, a packed lunch, refillable water bottle and a full change of clothes.
A rainproof outer layer is strongly recommended, because Troopers is a full outdoor week and camp still runs in wet weather.
No. Campers do not need to arrive as strong swimmers to take part and enjoy the week. The focus is safe participation, support and confidence-building in the water.
It is helpful if they are comfortable being in the water while wearing the appropriate safety equipment provided on site.
Yes. On the first morning at check-in, let the team know who your child would like to be grouped with and we will do our best to place them together.
Yes. Troopers works well for a wide mix of children, including those new to Ballyhass. The same group and leaders stay together through the week, which helps campers settle in and grow in confidence.
Please let the team know at check-in. Camp leaders and supervisors can help settle nervous campers in, keep an eye on them early in the day and make sure they feel supported from the start.
Troopers campers take part in a broad mix of Ballyhass activities across land, height and water, alongside camp moments such as ceremonies, team identity building, camp games and group challenges.
The exact mix can vary through the week, but daily water time and a wide outdoor programme are central to the experience.
Campers usually complete around four activities each day, with a mix of water, land and height sessions across the week.
On day one, please report to the main office with your camper in the morning. Collection and pickup for the rest of the week takes place in the overflow car park.
That is not a problem. Please notify a member of staff when checking in on the first day, or let the team know in advance where possible, and we will help have your camper ready early.
Just keep in mind that leaving early may mean missing part of that day’s programme.
Troopers is an outdoor camp and still runs in wet weather. We adapt the day as needed and use more sheltered parts of the site where possible, so campers should always arrive with suitable outdoor clothing and a rainproof layer.
Yes. Lost property found on site is kept, but camp periods generate a large volume of items, so some belongings are only held for a limited period.
Labelling clothing, towels and bags is always a good idea.
Troopers is designed for ages 8–16 and suits families looking for the full Ballyhass week experience, with variety, group energy and a broad outdoor activity mix.
One Day Warriors can be a very good shorter option if you are unsure about committing to a full week. It gives campers a feel for the instructors, atmosphere and Ballyhass style before stepping into Troopers.
Troopers is a strong fit for kids who like variety, outdoor energy, water time, group-based fun and the idea of being part of a full camp week rather than just attending for one day.
